WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The chief executive officer for the Wilmington Housing Authority pleaded guilty Wednesday to driving while impaired.
Wilmington Police charged Michael Krause with a DWI August 20, 2009, after he was spotted driving erratically on Eastwood Road.
During the breathalyzer test, Krause blew a .23, which is almost three times the legal limit.
The WHA decided to keep him as CEO and gave Krause a $15,000 raise in December, in addition to a $15,000 bonus. Krause was the only WHA employee to receive a raise.
The housing authority board said he received the raise because of his leadership during his first year on the job.
The Star News reports Krause was fined $100 and agreed to do 24 hours of community service over 90 days. They say his license was revoked for a year, but will be able to get a limited one in 45 days.
