BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Brunswick County District Attorney Jon David says a court's administrative order that stopped his proposed traffic court program is wildly inaccurate.

Late last week, Judge Jerry Jolly issued an order halting David's proposal to create an administrative traffic court that would have many young people entered into a StreetSafe program, since the organizer of that program, Doug Darrell, contributed to David's campaign for district attorney.

David issued a statement late Monday, saying, "On April 15, 2011 Judge Jerry Jolly issued an Administrative Order which stated that I engaged in grossly inappropriate behavior that brought the criminal justice system into disrepute. No hearing was held on this matter and the Court's findings of fact are wildly inaccurate. I categorically deny that I have done anything wrong, and I welcome the opportunity to explain my actions at the appropriate time. On today's date, I delivered a letter to Judge Jolly which outlined my position. I will not make another public comment on this matter until I receive his response, or until the deadline has passed that I specified in my letter. In the meantime, I ask the community to reserve judgment until all of the facts are revealed."
