Garage fire victims question whether or not refrigerator caused blaze

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Sellers family doesn't have much left to show of their garage after a fire recently destroyed it.

They had a motor home parked inside the garage, and the owner said the refrigerator inside the motor home had a recall on it due to reports of it catching fire if temperatures became too high.

They family said they adhered to the recall and had the refrigerator inside the vehicle serviced last year.

But now, investigators have covered up the fridge with a tarp.

"We are thankful that the wind was blowing away from our home, because if it have been blowing toward the home, as fast as that went, we'd be looking for a place to stay," said homeowner Emily Sellers.

Currently, the family can't touch the mess left behind from the fire until the insurance company finishes its investigation into the fire's cause.

The Sellers say that they just want to be able to clean up the mess so that so they don't have to constantly be reminded about the fire.
