ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Three young men were arrested in Onslow County early Monday morning after stealing a taxi.
According to the sheriff's office, Deputy Todd McAllister stopped the cab within five minutes of it being reported stolen.
The crime report said taxi driver Amanda Gross was dispatched to Druid Court to pick up a fare. When she pulled into the driveway and blew her horn, none came out. Gross told officials she got out of the cab, taking her money bag with her, and went to knock on the door. According to the report, that's when a man got inside her taxi and drove away.
Gross said a witness said she had watched the events unfold and had seen a silver sedan in the area just prior to the incident. According to the sheriff's office, the witness offered Gross a ride to follow her cab and they found it abandoned a short distance away.
Deputies arrested Jamuel David Solinap, 18, Devondre Eric Cuffee, 20, and Dylan Antonio Owens, 19, and charged them with conspiracy to commit felony larceny. Solinap and Cuffee were also charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny, while Owens was also charged with aid & abet larceny.
