Drug dealers sentenced to more than a decade in prison

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Two known drug dealers will spend more than a decade behind bars each after being sentenced late last week in federal court.

Desmon Terrill Barnhill got 15 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, while Lewellyn Vaught will serve 14 years and five years supervised release.  Both pleaded guilty to distributing cocaine last summer.  Attorneys claim the pair had been selling drugs since at least 2006.

Court records show nine controlled purchases were arranged to buy cocaine from either Vaught or Barnhill in late 2009.  Police also found a gun in Vaught's car during a traffic stop in late 2009.  Police also searched a location associated with Barnhill in 2010 and found several guns.
