BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A three-year-old boy died last week from internal bleeding due to blunt force trauma, according to search warrants filed at the Brunswick County Courthouse.

The search warrants say Montey Murray and Jessie Holt went to a house on Paisley Drive in Shallotte Wednesday night to babysit Jaronn McAllister while the boy's mother, Candace Young, went to work at the hospital.

According to Murray, Holt was responsible for the child overnight while he slept. Murray said he heard noises coming from the living room and saw Holt and Jaronn playing video games. Murray said the child pointed out bruises on his stomach area, but he went back to sleep.

When he woke up the next morning, Murray went to the living room and found Jaronn on the ground in a fetal position and Holt asleep on the couch. Murray said he tried to wake the child, but when he couldn't, he and his neighbor drove Jaronn to the hospital.

According to search warrants, just minutes after they arrived to the hospital, doctors informed Murray the child had died. Murray got upset, punched the wall, and took off in Young's vehicle, starting a police chase.

Detectives with the Shallotte Police Department and the Brunswick Sheriff's Office searched the apartment around 7:00 Thursday night, taking carpet samples with a "red/brown" substance on it. According to the search warrant, they also found five bags of marijuana, multiple prescription bottles, and a "white powdery substance."

In the search warrants, Hobbs told police that Murray had said all the hospital would need to do was pump the child's stomach.

The search warrant also says that a preliminary autopsy report shows the cause of death was internal bleeding of the liver due to blunt force trauma. Lt. Donna Simpson also observed bruising, scratches on Jarron's back, as well as what looked like a bruise on the child's head.

Murray was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official and fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle.

Holt was arrested March 2 for possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule IV controlled substance and manufacturing marijuana.
