WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A new state of the art teaching lab at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is creating opportunities for students and faculty.
Administrators say this building will create jobs and increase the school's exposure.
The new three-story building provides students, faculty, and staff high tech equipment for research and education. The $32 million building includes psychology labs, satellite surveying and studies that focus on ADD and dementia.
This facility is expected to attract top rate educators and researchers making UNCW a desirable academic option. It will also provide an environment for students to get a better understanding of the psychology field and create jobs in research.
"What this facility does is allow those faculty to maximize their potential to provide that experience and recruit students that we normally wouldn't recruit," said Richard Ogie, chair of the Psychology department.
The 120,000 square foot building was completed right before classes began this fall.
Administrators say the psychology lab will soon be conducting experiments and will need the community's help for their research.
