WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Members of the New Hanover County Republican Party have chosen who they would like to fill a now vacant seat on the county's board of commissioners.
The executive committee of the party chose Melissa Gott to replace Ted Davis on the board of county commissioners at a meeting Wednesday evening. Gott is an attorney who served on the county's planning board.
The seat on the county commission board was left empty when Ted Davis, who formally served as chairman on the commission board, took a seat in the North Carolina General Assembly. He fills the seat in Raleigh that was left vacant when Danny McComas left to become chairman of the State Ports Authority.
County Commissioners must approve the party's selection. Commissioners are expected to vote on Gott's nomination at a meeting Friday.
