NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A popular
program in our area is getting back on its feet now that the feds have temporarily taken
over classes.
New Hanover County's Head Start
classes resumed Tuesday, according to officials.
A letter was sent home letting parents
know class would be in session at Dorothy B. Johnson Elementary School located
at 1100 McRae Street.
Children were assigned a classroom
with the same staff and teachers students had at the end of September,
according to the letter.
Officials let parents know that buses
are not running at the moment. Until further notice, no bus transportation will
be provided.
Head Start lost an appeal for funding
last month after failing to comply with federal standards.
