WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Earvin "Magic" Johnson will be the keynote speaker Thursday night at UNCW as part of the annual Wilma W. Daniels Distinguished Lecture Promoting Diversity and Tolerance.
All tickets to see the event were distributed within two hours of being available.
About 600 middle school students and teachers from New Hanover County Schools will spend the afternoon at UNCW, where they will tour the campus, participate in a pep rally and attend the Daniels Lecture.
Thursday afternoon he sent out a tweet about the event.

The former NBA basketball star is expected to talk about building a successful life, overcoming challenges, and achieving personal goals.
The event is free and open to the public, but you will need a ticket to attend. The Wilma W. Daniels Distinguished Lecture completes a week of campus events designed to focus on diversity and tolerance.
WECT will live stream a press conference online with Magic Johnson at 6:30 p.m.
