CHADBOURN, NC (WECT) - The trial for Chadbourn's Town Manager is set to begin Monday, October 15.

According to District Attorney Jon David, jury selection will begin in the case against Town Manger Stevie Cox who was arrested in March of 2011 for impersonating an officer.

Cox was pulled over by Highway Patrol on the way back from a trip to Raleigh while he was driving the Police Chief's vehicle.

According to the highway patrol, when they asked Cox for his driver's license he presented them with the Chief's badge.

Dash cam video shows the Trooper asking Cox, "Where are you a chief?"

Cox said, "Chadbourn." He then apologized for handing him the badge.

According to Chadbourn town attorney Butch Pope, the badge was included and Cox was basically trying to tell the officer why he was inside a police car.

Pope said the officer then kept Cox and the men waiting on side the road while he made some calls. The trooper said he was trying to contact Chief Steven Shaw.

Cox later voluntarily went to the SBI about the situation, and that's when he was informed they were investigating him for impersonating an officer.

Cox turned himself in and he was charged with impersonating an officer and resisting and delaying police.
