The University of South Carolina's first loss of the season drops the Gamecocks from 3rd in the AP Top 25 College Football Poll to 9th. The Gamecocks lost to LSU 23-21 Saturday in Baton Rouge.
The top five in The Associated Press college football poll has been rearranged for a second straight week, with Florida, Kansas State and Notre Dame moving up in the rankings.
No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oregon hold the top two spots for a fourth straight week. The changes came behind them, where the Gators move up one spot to No. 3, and the fourth-ranked Wildcats and fifth-ranked Fighting Irish both jump two places.
The shuffling comes after a second straight Saturday in which multiple top-five teams lost. West Virginia slides from No. 5 to No. 17 after getting routed 49-14 at Texas Tech. The Red Raiders move into the rankings at 18th.
LSU moved up to 6th, followed by Ohio St., Oregon St, South Carolina and Oklahoma in the top 10.
Clemson had a bye this Saturday and is ranked 14th. The Tigers host Virginia Tech Saturday at noon.
The Gamecocks travel to Florida to take on the undefeated Gators at 3:30 Saturday.
