PLEASURE ISLAND, NC (WECT) - The annual Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival was in full swing Saturday and Sunday. Organizers said they sold more than 6,000 tickets.
This was the 19th year for the event. Fourteen bands played over the two day period, including headliner artist, Gregg Allman.
There was also a crafts village with a variety of stands. Several food vendors also set up shop, including the Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar, which hosted an Oyster Shucking Contest on Sunday.
"A lot of local people come to this event,' said Gail McCloskey, the President of the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce. "I think you would be surprised to know there are also people from as far as Ohio, Wisconsin and even California, they just come every year they love this event.
