Valdosta State knew six weeks ago they would have to run the table to insure themselves of a division two playoff berth.
They are one win away from doing just that.
The Blazers close out the regular season in a Lone Star Conference crossover game with Texas A&M Kingsville on Thursday night.
A five game winning streak has VSU in position to at least host a first round playoff game if they can beat Texas A&M Kingsville on Thursday.
Head coach David Dean says he was able to rest some key players in last week's big win at Shorter which he hopes will help a Blazer football team playing their tenth game in as many weeks.
"Finishing up with a non-conference opponent and knowing we have to win to get into the playoffs, I think is enough said. Our guys realize we have to win this game to get into the playoffs. We have to play well to beat this football team," said head coach David Dean.
This is the first meeting between these two teams since VSU defeated A&M-Kingsville in the DII semifinals in 2002.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Valdosta and the game is the GSC television game of the week.
