Free rabies clinic rescheduled

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - According to New Hanover Co. Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit, the free rabies clinic scheduled to take place Saturday, Nov. 17 is canceled due to the chance of rain.

It will be rescheduled to Saturday Dec. 1, 2012 from 9am-11am at the Animal Services Unit on Division Drive.

The group held three other free rabies clinics this year. Officials say it is important to protect your pets by getting them vaccinated. There have been 20 cases of rabies this year.

If your pet comes into contact with a rabid animal, it must have a booster shot. If your pet isn't up to date on their its vaccination it will have to be quarantined at the owner's expense.

You can get your pet vaccinated at any veterinarian's office.
