SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) - Additional filming for the upcoming Nicholas Sparks movie "Safe
Haven," will disrupt the usual schedule for the Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry.
The ferry will run on an abbreviated schedule Saturday, November 17.
Departure times are as follows:
From Southport: 5:30 a.m., 7a.m., 8:30a.m., 10a.m., 11:30a.m. and 1 p.m.
From Fort Fisher: 6:15 a.m., 7:45a.m., 9:15a.m., 10:45a.m., 12:15 p.m. and
1:45.
After 2:30 p.m., the normal winter schedule will resume.
There is an alternate route from the Southport Ferry terminal to Carolina
Beach:
Go around the traffic circle at the end of Ferry Road, and turn right at the
first traffic light onto Howe Street. At the second traffic light, turn right
onto River Road (N.C. 133/87). Stay on River Road (N.C. 133/87) until you reach
the town of Leland. Turn right onto N.C. 17/74/76 to Wilmington. Cross over the
bridge and get on U.S. 421 South to Carolina Beach.
