WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A man has been arrested and charged with injuring a Wood County child.

Wood County investigators said 22-year-old Mikeal Alldon Reeves was arrested by Kilgore Police Friday. Investigators charged him with the injury to a Wood County child that was hospitalized after an injury on November 11 in Alba.

Seven-month-old Taelynn Byron was hospitalized in Dallas after suffering a fractured skull.

In paperwork filed by investigators, Reeves told deputies that Taelynn fell when he tried to pick her up from her crib. Reeves was the only one at home with the child while the mother went to the store.

Deputies consulted with a doctor from Children's Medical Center in Dallas who told them the injuries were not matching the story that Mikeal Reeves had given authorities.

The doctor told authorities the injuries were from repeated contact with a hard surface and some of the injuries were from a "compression/squeezing force and not from a fall."

Wood County Sheriff's Office investigators said Reeves was arrested after fleeing from Kilgore Police officers at his job Friday.
