Are you as mad as I am about what's taking place in Washington? Our alleged leaders do not have the courage to make the tough decisions. They dodge and delay just about anything related to controlling their out-of-control spending habits and if they don't do something soon, we are headed for an economic disaster.
If you got a chance to watch Meet the Press this past Sunday, you got to see the voices of reason with two very smart men, one a Republican and one a Democrat. I'm talking about former U.S. Senator Alan Simpson and North Carolina native and Chief of Staff to President Clinton, Erskine Bowles. They co-chaired the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.
This bi-partisan commission, made up of some of the best minds in our country, did the tough work and came up with recommendations to get us back on track. But their hard work and solid advice is going nowhere because our leaders can't embrace anything that does not protect their own self-interests.
Now I'm not much on signing petitions, but this mess has me mad enough that I have decided to try to make my voice heard in Washington. Simpson and Bowles have also co-founded a group called Campaign to Fix the Debt. You can sign their petition at fixthedebt.org. This can be your way of letting the folks in Washington know you're really mad and you want action now.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at email@example.com.
