SAMPSON COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Lee Evans Ennis, age 31, of Burgaw, NC, was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 9, around 9:15 a.m., after leading police on a high speed chase, according to officials.
A deputy on patrol in the Ivanhoe community observed a black, four door Lexus traveling at a high rate of speed on Trestle Rd. The deputy pulled out behind the vehicle in an attempt to stop it; however, the driver accelerated and turned onto Dr. Kerr Rd. in a reckless manner.
The Lexus reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. The vehicle finally pulled into a driveway and went behind a residence at in the 400 block of Trestle Rd.
The driver jumped out of the vehicle after it stopped; however, he was stopped and challenged by the deputy.
Ennis was taken into custody and charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, speeding 113 mph in a 55 mph zone, careless and reckless driving, fictitious registration, no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to officials, Ennis was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $10,500 bond and his vehicle was seized.
