HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – One woman was sent to the hospital after going into
diabetic shock behind the wheel.
According to Wilmington police, the driver of a white
Ford Taurus, a woman in her 50s, went into diabetic shock and lost consciousness
at the wheel in the 2300 block of Oleander Drive near Acacia Drive.
She then drifted over the center yellow line and collided
with a green Mustang. The woman is currently being transported to the
hospital. She is still unconscious at
this time but is expected to be okay.
According to paramedics, it's likely that her blood sugar got too low or
perhaps she did not take her medication today.The other driver has no injuries.
The accident is still under investigation, no word yet on
charges to either driver at this time.
