Wilmington native nominated for Hollywood award

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Nominees for the 15th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, released this week, include a Wilmington native.

Alonzo Wilson, a Hoggard High School graduate is among some of Hollywood's most celebrated costume designers up for the awards that recognize excellence in film, television and commercials. Other nominees include designers from five of the films up for Academy Awards this year. 

Wilson is a finalist in the "outstanding contemporary television series" category.

Wilson is the costume designer for the HBO show "Treme." He also designed costumes for HBO's highly acclaimed series, "The Wire."

Wilson, who still calls Wilmington home, also has an exhibit opening in New Orleans at the prestigious Ogden Museum of Southern Art. It runs from January 24th through March 31st.

The 15th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards ceremony will be held February 19 at the Beverly Hilton.
