EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

Wind from the storms that blew through Tuesday night caused some damage in parts of East Texas.

The first confirmed report of damage came around 7:30 p.m in Palestine. Part of the roof of the Walmart warehouse in the 200 block of Old Elkhart Road was torn away. There was around a million dollars worth of damage to the warehouse, and one authority said Walmart had a numerous goods that will have to be thrown out.

A Palestine Church sustained some roof damage. A window was also broken by debris and  insulation blew inside the sanctuary. That could take up to a month to clean all of the insulation and debris up.

The debris stretched out a mile long. Some of it got in the road and the fire department had to move it out of the way. Some of it got into nearby power lines. They shut down nearby power for safety.

There were also numerous reports of straight line wind damage in Palestine, mainly downed trees.

In Hughes Springs, two RV trailers were knocked over and several were pushed off their blocks. Cass County confirms one person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Oncor reported multiple power outages in Tyler, Jacksonville, Palestine, Hideaway, Van, Athens, Whitehouse, Troup, Chapel Hill, Brownsboro, Lindale, near Caddo Creek Lake and near Ben Wheeler. SWEPCO also reported thousands more without power in Gregg, Rusk, Harrison, Cass and Morris counties.

The National Weather Service reported multiple trees down in Winnsboro, Alba-Golden, and reports of trees down across FM 1519 West south of Leesburg.

Most of the debris was cleaned up overnight, but as commuters head out to work or school Wednesday morning, they should be cautious and watch for tree limb and other debris that might be in the roadway.
