RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) –  Governor Pat McCrory has nominated Michael Lee and John Lennon of Wilmington to be members of the North Carolina Board of Transportation.  The Board is comprised of 19 members from across the state, each representing specific Transportation Divisions or at-large areas of interest.  The board helps set priorities and makes decisions on transportation projects.

McCrory nominated Lee to fill the Division 3 position on the board, representing the Southeast area including New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender, Duplin, Onslow and Sampson counties. The current Division 3 member is Jack Alford of Jacksonville, who joined the board in 2010 when long-time local member Lanny Wilson resigned.

Lee practices at the Lee Law Firm in Wilmington. He has been unsuccessful in two runs for state Senate seats representing New Hanover County. He lost to Thom Goolsby in the 2010 District 9 Republican primary. He also lost to former Senator Julia Boseman in the 2008 General Election.

McCrory nominated Lennon of Wilmington to be an at-large member of the Board on Ports and Aviation issues. Lennon is Managing Partner of Oceancrest Advisory Services, LLC.  According to the company's website, Oceancrest  is "a special assets advisory firm that offers bolt-on product and services that assist our bank clients with minimizing risk and maximizing investor returns. Our mission is to partner with our clients to provide a level of service and results that exceed expectations."

The Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee will review McCrory's nominees.
