CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NC (WECT) - According to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, officials are investigating a house explosion in Cumberland County.

Deputies were called to the scene just after 2:30 Wednesday morning. The sheriff's office says the explosion rocked the foundation of nearby homes and shattered windows of area residents. It happened in the 300 block of Cumberland Road.

An official with the sheriff's office said in a press release that traffic along Cumberland Road, Boone Trail and Natal Road will be rerouted for the next few hours and it will affect school bus routes.

Officials are working to clear debris from the road and anyone who normally drives in the area should see an alternate route.
