LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (WECT) – Wilmington's local American Idol is out.

Amanda Lawrence took to Facebook to say she had been eliminated:

"Ok guys- round one is over- and unfortunately, I did not make it past that during Hollywood week. I am extremely proud of myself- and I rest easy knowing that I made it so far in the competition. I had unanimous yes's from all of the judges at the judges round of auditions and it was the most amazing moment of my life. I met incredible people and lasting friendships- and although it is the end of the road for me on American Idol, it is only just the BEGINNING of me chasing my dream! Thank you for all of the love and support- I love you all!!"

Lawrence auditioned for the show in Charlotte. She was only one of 37 people to advance to the next round of American Idol, known as Hollywood week. Thousands tried out for the singing competition in Charlotte.

You can watch American Idol on FOX Wilmington.
