The Managing Director of Palantir Solutions, Jason Ambrose has been invited to speak at SPE's Petroleum Economics event in Dubai this week. Mr Ambrose is joined by Palantir's Economics Research & Development Director, Henry Hawkins who has also been invited to talk about fiscal regimes. Speaking ahead of the event, Jason Ambrose said "We are very pleased to have the opportunity to speak at SPE's event in the Middle East. Mr Ambrose is an expert engineering economist with over 20 years of industry experience. He will discuss the role that scenarios and sensitivities play in portfolio evaluation by taking into account a blend of practical and theoretical considerations. Mr Ambrose will analyse both techniques, and the subsequent results will be compared and contrasted along with the features and benefits of each.
Mr Hawkins is a petroleum engineer with 15 years of experience in the industry and specialities ranging from well logging through to economic evaluation and portfolio optimisation. His presentation will compare the different types of global fiscal regimes that exist around the world. Royalty Tax Concessions and Production Sharing Contracts will be compared using an analysis of government take, progressivity vs. regressivity, risk exposure and correlations with political risk. In the ten years that the software and consulting company has been operating, Henry has been instrumental in Palantir's development of a library containing over one hundred fiscal regimes.
The conference is hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is running for the second consecutive year. The conference topics are focused specifically on issues around petroleum economics, risk and uncertainty modelling and reservoir evaluation; it provides an ideal forum for petroleum economists, planners and reservoir engineers to congregate and discuss key topics pertinent to the industry.
