Security has been stepped up at the New Hanover County building.
County commission Chairman Woody White said security locks have been changed in response to concerns over Commissioner Brian Berger.
Commissioners used to be able to come and go out of the building but now, that's no longer the case.
White said they wanted to prevent late-night entries into the building. Apparently, Berger was showing up to the office late at night.
White said it won't keep Berger or any other elected official from doing their work as commissioners.
However, he says it will help protect the offices of the city attorney and city manager.
This all comes after White and others called for Berger to resign just one week ago.
White said Berger posed a security threat to Governor Pat McCrory when he was here last week.
Berger has refused to step down.
Commissioners will meet next Thursday at the county building for a meeting to go over the county's agenda.
A sheriff's deputy will be at the meeting and will use a metal detecting wand to scan everyone going into the meeting, another security measure put in place in response to Berger's behavior.
We contacted Berger about the changes. He has not returned our calls.
