WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A high school student from Wilmington is giving back to her community.

Melody Wolfe, who is a senior at Hoggard High School, organized a concert to raise money for Carolina Canines for Service.

The concert, held at Halyburton Park, featured the Katy Perry Tribute Band.

At the event, the local charity also unveiled its new bookmobile which will help it to promote literacy in the community.

Canines for Service manages four charities, including Canines for Literacy. The bookmobile will travel to schools with some of the group's dogs to promote reading.

Canines for Service also provides service dogs to injured military members who are returning home from war.
