Police find drugs on suspect after arresting him for trespassing

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Officers with the Wilmington Police Department arrested and charged a man Thursday evening for trespassing, and later discovered he had drugs on him.

Police say they arrested Anthony James Cromartie Jr., 24, at about 6:30 p.m. in the Creekwood neighborhood after noticing Cromartie on the Housing Authority trespass list.

Officials say after verifying his identity, they placed him under arrest for second degree trespassing. Following his arrest, officers searched Cromartie and discovered five individual packages of PCP.

According to police, Cromartie was then charged with possession with the intent to distribute schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cromartie was booked into the NHC Jail under a $5,000 bond.
