WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – NBC announced the renewal of the Wilmington-filmed drama Revolution for the 2013-14 season.

According to a news release from NBC, the announcement was made by Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment.

"We're especially pleased to be renewing Revolution and Chicago Fire — two first-season successes — and there will be more returning series announcements made in the next couple of weeks," said Salke in a news release.

Revolution will be given a 22-episode order for the upcoming season.

According to a news release, Revolution is the season's top-rated drama on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, as well as the top-rated new series among those networks.

Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Maj. Tom Neville, said in a recent interview with WECT that he hopes to have a chance to film again in Wilmington.

"We've had such a great experience this season with all of our crew who are such beautiful people but are also excellent filmmakers," said Esposito. "I also like the downtown area the great restaurants great beach 20 minutes away. I happen to live downtown just great Southern hospitality so we'll cross our fingers that we're coming back."

Revolution airs Monday night's at 10:00 on WECT.

NBC also announced the renewal of four other key drama series for the 2013-14 season: Chicago Fire; Parenthood; Grimm; and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
