WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) –Wilmington Police are investigating a report of shots fired that sent a group of people to New Hanover Regional Medical Center Friday night.
When officers arrived on the 400 block of Clay Street, they learned a man had been shot but was driven away from the scene. He was shot in the chest but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The vehicle he was in was stopped on Covil Avenue, where EMS took over and transported the man to the hospital.
According to police, officers found several others who had sustained superficial gunshot wounds. Police say none of their wounds appear to be life-threatening.
The shooting is still under investigation. Authorities are working to find a suspect and a reason behind the shooting.
