The Westwood Wildcats have been the class of GISA A track for years.
A year off another girls' state championship and boys' runner-up, the Wildcats have a new challenge.
Coach Earl Ford has won 11 state titles in his 19 years as the head track coach at Westwood. Now he has the Wildcats looking to chase down another in Class AA.
Ford says he doesn't expect to run away with a state title at this weekend's GISA State Track Meet, as his girls team did last year in Albany.
But he does think his kids can compete.
Graduation hit the Westwood teams hard last year, but Ford believes his team still has enough to possibly hoist another state championship trophy.
The key he says is gaining some ground early during Friday's field events.
"We do have to have a big tomorrow. We've got to have good points in the field events," Ford says. "If we can have a good field event day, and we may even need a great one, but if we do what we're capable of, then we can go to Saturday with a chance."
