WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Two women were taken to the hospital early Thursday morning after an argument that escalated into one woman having a beer bottle broken on her face.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, the assault happened around 4:25 a.m. in the 900 block of N. 30th St. in the Creekwood community.
Police say the victim reported that she and the suspect were at a gathering when they got into an argument over an incident that had occurred between them two weeks ago. The victim said when she walked away from the argument to go home, Hines followed her and attacked her.
Police say the victim reportedly received a serious cut to the right side of her face and a smaller cut to her arm. The suspect called in from the 800 block of N. 30th St. requesting EMS for a small laceration to a finger. Both women were taken to the hospital.
The suspect, Shirley Hines, was released from the hospital into police custody around 6 a.m. She's being charged with assault with a deadly weapon while inflicting serious injury.
According to police, Hines was released on $10,000 unsecured bond. The victim also has two active civil warrants.
