BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Friends and community members are mourning the loss of a 17-year-old who was killed in a car crash in Bolivia Friday night.
Isiah Randolph died in a single-car wreck on Galloway Road off of Highway 17 around 7:30 p.m.
Friends say Randolph was a sophomore at South Brunswick High School and played on the football team.
Jerry Martin is still in shock over what happened.
"He was my best friend in fourth grade," said Martin. "We did everything together in elementary school."
Martin talked to Randolph just hours before the crash.
"I spoke to him at 2:52. I remember because I looked at my phone. He was showing me a picture on his phone right before we left school. He said, I'll see you on Tuesday. I shook his hand but then I got a phone call later that night."
That phone call came with bad news.
According to Trooper Blackwell, the car Randolph was driving ran off of the road, overcorrected, hit a ditch and overturned.
Randolph died on the scene.
Now, Isiah's friends are trying to move on.
"Our hearts dropped," said Mason Berne. "At first we didn't believe it. It's definitely hard. We're all going to miss him. But it's a part of life. We have to do our best to get through it."
Friends and classmates have started a facebook page in memory of Randolph.
