NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Highway Patrol Troopers said the driver of a tractor trailer was killed in a wreck on Interstate 140 near I-40 in New Hanover County Saturday morning.

Edward McKee, 63, of Scranton, SC, died when the tractor trailer he was driving veered into the median and overturned, according to Trooper K.B. Parker.

We're told the accident happened in the westbound lanes between the Castle Hayne exit and North College Road.

According to the Highway Patrol, the westbound lanes of I-140 were closed for hours as crews cleaned up cinder blocks that spilled from the truck.

Parker said investigators aren't sure why McKee lost control of the tractor trailer.
