A grandmother is in hot water after leaving two toddlers alone in a hot car.
It just so happened that a detective with Bedford Police was at the Walmart when the call for help came in.
It was just before 4:00 Thursday afternoon, the heat of the day, when someone reported two toddlers locked in a car in a parking lot -- the windows were completely rolled up.
Bedford Detective Dennis Bergansky was there, so he went to the car and saw the two children, approximately two years old.
That's when a women named Jacquelyn Simons walked up to them. She's grandma and police said she told them she locked the two in the car while she was inside shopping.
"It's just heartbreaking. It's hot out here. It's very hot. It's horrible. Any excuse for that? No excuse. Two two-years-olds -- no excuse," said a shopper.
"It still can get over 100 degrees even in this weather," said another shopper.
Police took the children out of the hot car and then to a Bedford Hospital where both checked out OK.
Grandma on the other hand was arrested for child endangering.
The two toddlers were released from the hospital and into the custody of an aunt.
