CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – The Carolina Beach Town Council held a meeting for residents to discuss the boardwalk expansion Thursday evening.
The council showed residents photos of other beaches with boardwalks like Virginia Beach and Myrtle Beach. Carolina Beach mayor Bob Lewis said the town is taking ideas from those examples.
"We looked at maybe seven or eight different beaches and what they've done with their boardwalks. We tried to model this a little bit after that," said Lewis.
Residents at the meeting said they would like to see first-aid centers and foot-washing stations included in the boardwalk's design.
According to a handout from the meeting, the town will hold another public hearing on September 17 and will start construction in November.
