WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The CEO for the Wilmington Housing Authority was charged in connection to driving while impaired this weekend. According to the 911 call notes, Michael Krause's blood alcohol content was at .35 when police first tested him.

"I'm calling because we're driving towards Wrightsville Beach and there is a gentleman who is swerving all over the road in a white Toyota 4 Runner," a caller told 911 operators. "He is swerving all over the road."

The concerned caller continued to follow Krause and said he came close to hitting several vehicles. He told the 911 operator he was afraid Krause was "going to hurt someone while he is driving."

"He's driving over medians….running stop signs," said the caller. "I just don't want him to turn around and start ramming us."

The 911 call notes show Krause had a .35 BAC after the first alcohol sensor test just before 4:00 Sunday afternoon and a .31 BAC after the second and third tests performed around 4:15 p.m.

According to jail records, Krause was charged and booked in jail around 4:30 p.m. for DWI. He was also cited for driving without a license. He is out of jail after posting a $1,000 bond.

Wilmington Housing Authority Board Chairman Jeff Hovis said that Krause has taken a leave of absence, though he did not know if it is paid or unpaid.

Hovis said that the board will tentatively meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday. He said an official meeting notice will be sent as soon as a few more members confirm their attendance.

After the meeting, the board will release an official statement.

This isn't the first time Krause has been cited with this charge. The CEO pleaded guilty in January 2010 for a DWI citation August 20, 2009.

During the breathalyzer test for that incident, Krause blew a .23, which is almost three times the legal limit.
