WECT and League of Women Voters hosting Candidate Forums

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – WECT-TV and the League of Women Voters of the Lower Cape Fear are working together to produce two candidate forums for voters in Wilmington and Carolina Beach.

Candidates running for three open seats on Wilmington City Council will get together at the New Hanover County Senior Resources Center on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:00pm for the first forum. It will be moderated by WECT Anchor/Reporter Jon Evans and streamed live on the WECT website. The questions used in the forum will be selected from those submitted by league members and citizens.

The next night, October 3rd, the two candidates running for Mayor in Carolina Beach will be featured in a similar forum also held at the New Hanover County Senior Resources Center. It will also begin at 7:00pm, and be streamed live on the WECT website. The questions used in the forum will be selected from those submitted by league members and citizens.

In addition to the live stream, WECT will post recorded versions of both forums on its' website, so those who are unable to watch the live stream or attend the forum in person will be able to see the production.

The public is encouraged to attend the forums.
