Investigators block off the Vortex ride after an accident Thursday night.
RALEIGH, NC (WECT) - One person was sent to the hospital after part of a ride at the North Carolina State Fair fell on him while it was being disassembled.
Authorities responded to the call which came in around 3:30 a.m. Monday. The Wake County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident as an industrial accident.
According to WNCN, the ride being disassembled was the "Vortex". The State Fair has two such rides, the one involved in Monday's accident was not the one involved in an accident last week that sent five people to the hospital.
Three remained hospitalized as of Sunday.
Timothy Dwayne Tutterrow, 46, of Quitman, Ga., was charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury on Saturday after the "Vortex" ride stopped then started again as passengers were coming off of the ride.
