Man tries to help with 'car troubles,' gets robbed instead

SHALLOTTE, NC (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office are looking for information related to an armed robbery that happened just after 10:00 Friday night.

Authorities said the victim pulled over on Old Shallotte Road to help a woman who appeared to be having car troubles.

The victim told detectives a man got out of the "broken down" vehicle and implied that he had a weapon. The man assaulted the victim and then took his wallet and cell phone.

The female went through the vehicle and took the keys.

According to the incident report, the suspects got away with more than $400 in cash and goods.

The sheriff's office said the man is about 40 years old, was about 6' tall and weighed roughly 170 lbs. He is described as wearing a dark jacket, jeans and a red mesh trucker's hat.

According to the sheriff's office, the woman was also about 40 years old and about 5'7". They described her as heavy set and said she was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans and white shoes.
