Freezing temperatures likely across East Texas on Wednesday

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

A strong area of Canadian high pressure is rapidly moving south towards East Texas this Veterans Day. Out ahead of the front, today looks fantastic with highs reaching the 70s area wide. By tomorrow morning however the front will be moving across the area and will usher in the coldest air we have seen so far this season. So if you like the warm weather, get outside this afternoon.

By sunrise tomorrow the cold front will be moving across our northwestern counties. High temperatures tomorrow will be reached during the morning hours before the front moves through. Behind the front gusty northeasterly winds will bring in much colder air. During the afternoon many areas will see temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 50s with wind chills in the upper 30s.

Our winds will begin to die down just a bit overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. This will allow for temperatures to drop below freezing. With that said, winds will probably stay up enough to prevent a heavy frost but air temperatures will dip down into the upper 20s and lower 30s area wide by Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon will be downright cold for this time of the year. Highs temperatures will struggle to reach the upper 40s and lower 50s across East Texas.

We will see another freeze more than likely across the area Thursday morning. This time winds will probably be light so a wide spread frost will likely occur as well. Clouds will begin to increase late Thursday with a chance of rain moving into the area by Thursday evening. Thankfully temperatures will be well above the freezing mark by them so wintry precipitation will not be an issue.
