WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The CEO of a real estate company with an office in Wilmington will spend the next two years in jail, after pleading guilty to federal charges.
US attorneys say Charles Smith failed to pay taxes he'd withheld from his employees paychecks, and used that money on personal vacations, gambling, and a boat.
More than a dozen employees in his Wilmington eShowings office were impacted when their paychecks repeatedly bounced due to the company's financial issues.
An eShowings spokesperson tells us they have a new CEO on board, and the paycheck issues have been resolved.
