What a crazy day of weather, well maybe the word is RAW, or FRUSTRATING or NASTY! Those are some of the words I heard today to describe this cold, rainy day! Luckily the rain is shifting out slowly, so any minor flooding issues we see tonight should get better by tommorrow morning. The rain will still be around tonight, but it should be on the lighter side.
Snow will take over in western NC by midnight, or at least start mixing with rain. By 5-6am we'll have snow on the ground near TN, and perhaps a dusting to an inch near Asheville. Snow will end for the lower mountains, but continue near the TN border in the high mountains through the day as northwest flow takes over. 4-6" totals will be common!
In the Upstate we'll get a brief window of opportunity for snow mixing with rain, or even a quick burst of all snow. Timeframe: 9am-Noon Wednesday. Best chance will be in the eastern Upstate as it looks now. As the moisture pushes out, the cold air may catch it just as it's exiting our area to the east.
We'll clear for most areas Wednesday afternoon except for the high mountains. Winds will be VERY strong out of the northwest through the evening, then they should die down overnight.
Thanksgiving will be clear and COLD! So enjoy some turkey and relax inside if you can :)
