RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond family is desperate for answers after a mother of three is run over and killed by her own car. 32-year-old Latoya Hopkins died outside of her Creighton Court apartment Saturday morning.

Her family told NBC12 Monday night, it wasn't an accident. According to Hopkins' family, Richmond investigators have suspects in custody and are questioning them.

Richmond Police wouldn't confirm it but the family hopes soon, they'll learn what led up to Latoya's death.

A makeshift memorial was made for Hopkins at the very place she took her last breath. She lived only two doors down from where her body was found Saturday around 6:00 a.m.

Her younger brother is the one who found her.

"I seen her body folded up under the front of the car right here," said Malik Cobbs, pointing to the ground beside him.

According to the family, Hopkins own Cadillac Seville was on top of her and the driver's side door was open but no one was inside the car.

Steps away from the makeshift memorial, fresh tire tracks are still visible from where the car that hit Latoya skidded to a stop.

"I don't know anyone who would've wanted to do something like this to her," said her cousin Santella Hopkins. Still, Hopkins' cousin and the rest of her family believe her death wasn't an accident.

"I wish it were me honestly," said Cobbs. "Who's going to take care of my nieces? I got to and my mom got to take care of all of them."

While police continue to investigate, Hopkins' family is planning her funeral.
