SURF CITY, NC (WECT) - If you are driving around Surf City you may notice some changes along the roadways.

Surf City officials say that NCDOT is funding landscaping enhancements in four areas. Flower beds, palm grasses, trees and other shrubs are being planted as part of the project, and a sidewalk is even being added to one location.

Several Live Oak Trees will be planted at the intersection of Highway 210 and Watts Landing along with 15 Crape Myrtles, more than 2,000 daylilies, pink muhlygrass and other grasses.

The intersection of Highway 210 and H2O Place is getting about 15 rose bushes, along with pink muhlygrass, other shrubs, sodding and a wooden fence.

A sidewalk is going in along New River Drive in front of the Century Link building, along with more roses, and five Pindo Palm Trees.

Finally the intersection of Highway 210 and Highway 17 is getting more than 30 rose bushes, along with 1,300 daylilies and other shrubs and grasses. A new curb and gutter will also be put in there.

Officials say the project is valued at $100,000 however the Town of Surf City will not have to pay any money, NCDOT is fully funding the project.
