A man who was target practicing missed a shot and hit a window on the Atrium YMCA building in Franklin.
The gun shot went through one pane of a double pane window near the front of the YMCA. People inside the building were moved away from the windows while officers were investigating the scene.
After hearing continuing gunshots, officers discovered that the shots were coming from nearby Hendrickson Road where Andrew Palmer, 31, was shooting a rifle on private property.
Officials say Palmer was shooting in the direction of the YMCA and it appeared that one of the shots went over his target and hit the Atrium YMCA.
The incident remains under investigation and Palmer's ammunition and weapon were collected by detectives.
