A Mentor police officer was injured while trying to make an arrest on Sunday.
19 Action News has learned the cop tried to stop a car whose owner had a suspended license. The driver failed to stop, and continued into Mentor-on-the-Lake where it pulled into the McDonald's.
The driver and owner of the car, Walter Frazier from Cleveland, got out of the car and was argumentative. The officer asked him to stay in his car several times, but Frazier refused. The officer attempted to take him into custody, and a struggled ensued where the officer was injured receiving a cut on his knee and bruises on his leg. Frazier was not injured.
The officer was able to hold Frazier down until officers from Mentor-on-the-Lake arrived to assist.
Frazier was charged with driving under suspension, failure to comply and resisting arrest.
