WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Commissioners in New Hanover County voted 4-0 Monday in favor of spending about $50,000 to help with improvements to Buck Hardee Baseball Field at Legion Stadium.
In January, the Legion Stadium Commission voted unanimously to approve the cost sharing plan between the County, City of Wilmington, New Hanover County School Board, and the new owner of the Wilmington Sharks.
The owner of the Sharks would pay $150,000 with the other three entities chipping in $50,000.
The renovation project, with a total bill of about $325,000, would include increasing and improving the seating capacity along with a $40,000 scoreboard for the outfield which could include video playback.
The project still needs to be approved by the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County School Board before it is a done deal.
