Posted: Updated:

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT)- A fire caused over $100,000 in damage to a home in the Delco community Sunday.

According to Steve Camlin, Fire Chief with Acme Delco Riegelwood Fire and Rescue, the fire sparked at 3467 Delco Prosper Rd. Sunday while no one was in the residence.

Camlin said that no one was injured in the fire.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Haling thinks a power surge may have started the blaze.

Camlin said that crews also put out a fire that burned nearly half an acre of woods on in the 23 thousand block of Jackson Hwy.  He said that a power surge on a transmission wire may have started that blaze.  No one was injured in that incident.
